can a second cardholder manage to do a balance transfer?PLS help. huge debt?
I am the second cardholder but my debt is huge. I’ve used it to pay my university and now my mother (who is the first cardholder) is putting a lot of pressure on me. I only pay the minimum because I’m a struggling graduate …but it is too much already £160 per month and I can never afford to pay interest (which is around £125.)all my money goes to the credit card.
She refuses to talk about it or help in any way so I wanted to know if I can do a balance transfer and therefore paying off this one and become the first cardholder of the new one. so that she doesn’t do my head in and so that i manage to pay it off.
I didn’t use it to buy goodies or unimportant things so pls don’t judge.
thx
btw, the debt is £6000
and it’s been 4 years of debt and i’ve never missed a payment
I’m desperate now
You’ll be lucky if any balance transfer gives you even as much as 2k.
Why don’t you try for a bank loan instead?
no, you will need both signatures to agree to move the balance, even if the new card is just in your name.

i dont think u can balance transfer a card which you are a second cardholder because your mum is the actual account holder not you, she is sharing her limit with you .. she would have to apply for the new card to transfer your balance onto. You wont be able to get a card of your own and transfer the balance either because your not legally allowed to pay a credit card with a credit card
